Maine Chapter - June Breakfast - The State of the Ports

09:00 AM - 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time

John Henshaw discusses The State of the Ports

JOIN WTS-MAINE AT OUR JUNE MEETING. Our guest speaker is John Henshaw, the executive director of the Maine Port Authority (MPA). Attendees will learn about how the MPA is working with public and private organizations to achieve its mission to stimulate commerce by developing marine and rail facilities and other viable endeavors, in a responsible fashion.

MAINE HAS ALWAYS LOOKED TO ITS PORTS as a stronghold in our state’s economy. With nearly 3,500 miles of coastline, deep coastal waters and an eastern prominence, Maine’s ports are well located to dominate in the intermodal movement of people and cargo. As other ports have become better equipped and connected over the last century, Maine’s position has diminished and there has been a growing dependence on a decreasing number of major exporters.

At the Maine Port Authority, John has been active in reestablishing our state’s position along the Eastern Seaboard, by promoting growth industries ranging from wood chips and pellets to propane and cattle.

Registration is from 8:00 - 8:30 am.  Program and Q&A will be from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.

Cost to join this event is $20/members, $30/non-members, $15/public sector, and $10/students.

This event will be held at the Maine Turnpike Authority Headquarters, 2360 Congress Street, Portland.

Please RSVP to Robyn Saunders at robyn.saunders@gza.com by Friday, June 22.
