Meet with HNTB Vice President, Human Resources Director, Yvonne Lopez-Diaz, at HNTB's Manhattan offices

Lopez-DiazHSYvonne Lopez-Diaz is a vice president at HNTB Corporation, an employee-owned infrastructure solutions firm serving public and private owners and contractors. With more than a century of service, HNTB understands the life cycle of infrastructure and addresses clients’ most complex technical, financial and operational challenges.  Its professionals nationwide deliver a full range of infrastructure-related services, including award-winning planning, design, program management and construction management. Yvonne currently serves as the firm’s HR Director for the Design Build organization, as well as, the New York Office Growth Champion.  Prior to her role in Design Build, Yvonne spent 10 years supporting HNTB’s Southeast Division, where she drove the alignment of and implemented the organization’s people strategy and plan for deploying HR processes.  She has also served as HR Director for the firm’s Northeast and West Divisions.  In her role as NY Growth Champion, Yvonne is focused on supporting the growth and development of the rapidly growing New York Office and its people.  In addition, she works with senior leadership to ensure the firm is organized to win and deliver the biggest projects.

Yvonne has more than 30 years of experience in the human resources field, the last 16 of which have been spent in various HR leadership roles with HNTB.  Yvonne provides senior level strategic HR support and works closely with office and division leadership to ensure that decisions regarding business results are fully integrated with decisions about people.

Prior to her employment at HNTB, Yvonne spent 16 years at Bayer Corporation, a world leader and innovator in the field of pharmaceutical and medical products, where she served in successive HR leadership roles that included Benefits and Compensation Analyst, Immigration and Foreign Service Personnel Specialist, and International HR Manager for the Caribbean region.   

Yvonne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix, and is a certified Professional in Human Resources.  She is also active in activities that benefit the community and the engineering industry.  She has served as a board member of the Central Florida Zoological Society, the Central Florida Community Foundation, and the Walt Disney World Dreamers & Doers Initiative.  Yvonne has also served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, the Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Home Society, Adopt-a-Road, MathCounts, Seminole County Teach-In, and the Citrus Bowl Community Clean-up program.  For more than a decade she has served on the board of the Central Florida and Greater New York Womens Transportation Seminar (WTS), an industry organization that focuses on the advancement of women in transportation, where she chairs the organization’s Scholarship Commi­ttee.  Yvonne was recently appointed Chair of the WTS Greater NY Glass Ceiling Committee where she will lead the research and development of a study to benchmark the leadership roles of women in the metropolitan New York area and identify whether the glass ceiling is a barrier to their growth and success.  The results of this study will identify potential policies or programs to support the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in transportation. 

As a result of her engagement and impact on the transportation industry, Yvonne was recently recognized by WTS and the ENO Center for Transportation as one of 10 “Women to Watch”.  This honor  recognizes women who are making major professional contributions through mentorship, engaging volunteer networks, and seeking outside the box solutions to address today’s biggest transportation challenges.
