About our speaker

Wendy Lopez is currently a vice president of URS Corporation, where she leads the Texas/Oklahoma operations. As TX-OK Regional Manager, she has 550 staff reporting to her through three main offices located in Dallas, Houston and Austin.  She has responsibility for delivering approximately $150M in Revenue and $20M in profits through her region.

Wendy began her business leadership career by forming Wendy Lopez & Associates, Inc. (WLA) in Dallas in 1988.  The firm grew organically adding offices in Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and Colorado Springs.  Wendy's mantra was to hire the best people and give them the opportunity to do their best work.  With this successful plan WLA grew to a staff of over 200.  In 1999, WLA acquired Tierra Engineering Consultants of Santa Fe, New Mexico, which began the "transaction years".  In 2002, WLA merged with RM Garcia & Associates to form the LOPEZGARCIA Group (LGG).  Immediately on the heels of the merger, LGG purchased the highly recognized municipal firm of Knowlton, English and Flowers to deepen to its relationships with North Texas municipalities. In 2008, Wendy completed the full business cycle when she sold LOPEZGARCIA Group to URS Corporation.

Wendy received a master's degree in engineering and bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She serves on the ULL Civil Engineering Advisory Board and the SMU Engineering Executive Board.
