February 2019 Lunch Program

11:30 AM - 01:00 PM Pacific Standard Time

WTS Sacramento is pleased to welcome Ellen Greenberg, Deputy Director of Sustainability at Caltrans, for a presentation on Transportation and Sustainability: Connecting Some Dots.

Many of us are actively working to promote sustainable transportation, with focuses including active transportation and transit, sustainable community strategies, emerging technologies, and resilience in the face of the impacts of climate change. For many of us, busy routines at both work and home make it hard to create the time to consider the multiple dimensions of each of these challenges, particularly in light of the ideal of a "triple bottom line" that provides benefits in the areas of Equity, Economy, and Ecology. This lunch program will highlight a short list of inter-related topics in the hope of making some new connections that may inspire new approaches. We'll talk about the Gilets Jaune (Yellow Vest) protests in France, the gap between the ambition and reality of long range transportation and community planning processes, and what private car ownership can mean to low-income households.
