Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives and Transportation YOU Registration:11:15 a.m. Lunch 11:30 - Noon Speaker: Noon - 1:30 p.m.

Join the Greater Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of WTS for a lively discussion on STEM Initiatives and the new Transportation YOU program.  Charlotte Carlisle, President of Advanced Placement Strategies, will serve as our guest speaker. Information will also be presented about the local WTS Chapter's STEM Initiatives and the opportunity to work with the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School as well as a brief synopsis of the 2012 Transportation YOU Summit held in Washington D. C.  In addition, students from Irma Lerma  Rangel Young Women's Leadership School will be in attendance.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Charlotte Carlisle became the President of Advanced Placement Strategies, Inc. in July, 2010. Carlisle has 20 years of experience as a math teacher in Texas and most recently was the Director of Math Services for the Massachusetts Math and Science Initiative (MMSI). Under her leadership, APS works with 66 high schools in 14 school districts across Texas supporting over 10,000 students and 350 AP teachers.  Schools new to the APS program see a 125% increase in student participation in AP classes and a 125% increase in qualifying scores on AP exams in math, science and English.
 During her teaching career, she worked with The College Board to train hundreds of math teachers across the country in curriculum development and student recruitment and she received the Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers in 1996. She also worked for Eli Lilly and Johnson & Johnson as a pharmaceutical sales representative. Carlisle earned a BS in Education from Baylor University and an MBA from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor.
