April WTS Reading Group – Hidden Figures
We hope you’ll join us for our next WTS Reading Group, as we discuss the book Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly (available at Amazonlocal independent bookstores and other retailers). This book, and the corresponding motion picture, shares the true story of four African American female mathematicians at NASA working as human “computers” that helped launch our country into space. The illuminating and inspirational accounts of Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden cover a period of nearly three decades that were simultaneously rife with social change in our country. We will discuss the lives of these remarkable women, and what lessons they hold for women pursuing careers in male-dominated fields in the current era.

When: Thursday, April 25th 12 to 1PM
Where: Norton Building conference room, 801 2nd Ave between Marion/Columbia, 2nd floor (downtown Seattle)

There is no cost for attendance. Coffee and light snacks will be provided.
Please RSVP to Kara Luckey (kara.luckey@gmail.com) by Friday, April 21st if you plan to attend. Please also let Kara know if you cannot attend the April meeting, but are interested in learning more about future Reading Groups.
