Panel Discussion Activities and Impacts of the Eagle Ford Shale

12:30 PM - 02:00 PM Eastern Standard Time

Join us for lunch on Wednesday, November 14th as we feature a panel of speakers to discuss activity and impacts of the Eagle Ford Shale.

The Eagle Ford Shale is a hydrocarbon-producing formation consisting of oil and natural gas fields that has had a $25 billion impact over a 20-county region in Texas. Activity associated with the shale, such as drilling oil and gas wells, oil and gas extraction, construction, support activities for oil and gas operations, food/drink service industry, logistics, legal services, and others has brought about an economic boom in the region that has contributed to a rise in employment, housing, and the relocation of major company facilities to the area, including Bexar County.

Our panel of speakers will discuss activity and impacts of the Eagle Ford Shale. Speakers include Leodoro Martinez, Jr., Chairman of the Eagle Ford Shale Consortium; Dr. Azza Kamal, Senior Lecturer of Architecture and Urban Planning in the College of Architecture at UTSA, will discuss the quantifiable effect of the Eagle Ford Shale boom on housing and the economy; Paul Reitz, Project Manager - Energy Task Force for TxDOT, will present on energy impacts to the Texas transportation system, and Mr.Bruce Redfield, Executive VP of Business Development of Primera Energy will discuss technology and economic opportunity in the Eagle Ford Shale.  The moderator for this discussion will be Gilbert Gonzalez from UTSA's Institute for Economic Development.
