President's Message

Thank you for joining us for WTS-IE’s 17th year! If anything like 2020, it's likely to be another unpredictable one but the WTS-IE board and committee chairs are excited to continue delivering the exceptional programs you enjoyed in 2020. In 2021, we are transitioning our website, www.wtsie.org, over to the larger WTS International platform where you can also sign up or renew a membership and register to attend our programs.
Our Chapter kicked off the new WTS-IE year with a Career Exploration Event bringing together junior high school girls and transportation professionals. On March 5, we had our first professional development program on Taking Charge of Your Career. WTS-IE’s professional development programs in 2021 will be low-cost with a high return on investment. On March 24, we’ll hear about SBCTA’s West Valley Connector project. We will continue to offer our monthly webinar programs at no cost to WTS members, a major benefit to renewing your membership or becoming a WTS member in 2021.
Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) officer, Rachel Yazawa, is hitting the ground running planning some DEI programs for you throughout the year and recognizing individuals who are making great contributions to our industry despite the barriers they’ve faced. We intend to expand our work advancing all women in transportation by partnering with other local nonprofit organizations to deliver timely and inclusive programming. I encourage you to reach out to any member of the WTS-IE Board with your thoughts, ideas, and connections for programs and other organizations.
I am delighted to be your 2021 WTS-IE Chapter President and look forward to working with our corporate partners, members, and friends to continue advancing all women in transportation. Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous year.
