WTS-GNY Gala 2021
Wednesday, October 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the View at Battery Park
The WTS-GNY Special Events Committee organizes the Annual Fall Gala. At the gala we honor our Woman of the Year and scholarship winners. The Woman of the Year Award recognizes a leader in the transportation industry, who has distinguished herself through professional achievements and, more importantly, her support of women at various stages of their careers.
Marie Therese Dominguez, commissioner of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), will be the 2021 recipient of the Woman of the Year Award. She was unanimously confirmed as Governor Andrew Cuomo’s appointee on June 20, 2019. With a career that spans over 25 years, Dominguez has worked in the transportation, water and energy infrastructure, safety, and logistics sectors, having served in numerous executive leadership positions within the federal government and private sector.
The Special Events Committee is thrilled to announce that this year’s Gala will be an in-person event on Wednesday, October 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the View at Battery Park, located at the southern tip of Manhattan overlooking New York Harbor. Join us to catch up with friends and colleagues as we pay tribute to today’s and tomorrow’s industry leaders! Typically, the event attracts around 300 transportation enthusiasts. This event will be subject to state and local COVID-19 protocols and registrants will be notified before-hand of the specific rules that will have to be followed.
The WTS-GNY Special Events Committee is always looking for volunteers. The tasks vary from graphics; writing; donation solicitation; decorating; selection of a musician; coordination with the venue; and assistance on the night of the event.
