Chapters from 13 states gathered for the Central Region Conference in Cleveland, Ohio from September 15 to 17. More than a hundred members choose from programming including a multi-modal track, a leadership panel, and topics such as intelligent mobility, aviation, and more. Speakers included professionals, government officials, and other transportation innovators.

Each year, the conference rotates to a different chapter in the region. The Northeast Ohio Chapter hosted this year; their committee members worked diligently and creatively to put on a successful conference.

Sara Stickler, WTS Executive Director, and April Rai, WTS Director, attended the conference to gain insights and connect with central region members.

“The conference was a testament to the passion and engagement at all levels of WTS. Our regions serve as powerful aggregators for what is happening in the various parts of the country,” Stickler said.  As a special touch, the conference, which was Stickler’s first Central Region Conference as WTS Executive Director, was held in her hometown, “It was great to be back home and see the city’s infrastructure and transportation with new eyes.”

Rai, who focuses on membership and chapter relations, said the event brought renewed clarity to the issues and opportunities members are facing. “There is nothing like being with members and WTS leaders in person. It was great to understand first-hand what’s working and what we can improve on,” Rai said.

Various tours were offered that gave attendees a glimpse into Cleveland’s unique transportation and waterways. WTS-Kansas City was a social media all-star throughout the week. Check out their snapshots from the Boat Tour of Cuyahoga River Bridges.
