At Jacobs, Inclusion + Diversity = Success

Maintaining an inclusive and diverse Jacobs workplace is essential to the success of Jacobs, its employees, and its clients. Learning about new and different perspectives creates more varied thinking, energizing its people and encouraging creativity, collaboration, and innovation resulting in better decision making and solution finding.

WTS plays an important role in Jacobs’ promotion of inclusion and diversity internally within the company and externally in the industry. Jacobs is proud to be a WTS International guardian sponsor as well as a local level sponsor for various chapters throughout the nation. It has recognized leaders engaged at all levels within WTS. Jacobs maintains international level leadership through the WTS Foundation Board of Director Secretary and at the local level, Jacobs currently has 19 WTS chapter board leaders, including two presidents, two Vice Presidents, and two immediate past presidents.

When asked how WTS has helped her personally and professionally, Jennifer Duval, AICP, Transportation Planning Manager and WTS Foundation Board of Director Secretary, stated, “Since joining in 2006, WTS has helped me develop my leadership skills, as well as opened up local and national opportunities for my career advancement. WTS has helped me create a network of strong, professional women and men that can help me throughout my career.”

WTS has also recognized some of Jacobs’ leaders. Most recently, WTS and Eno Center for Transportation recognized Heather Wishart-Smith, PE, PMP, LEED AP BD+C, VP for Mid-Atlantic Buildings and Infrastructure, as a top woman to watch in transportation. Giving back to future leaders by sharing her knowledge and experience, Heather was featured in the WTS Philadelphia Chapter’s Learn from a Leader series in July 2016.

Inclusion is woven throughout Jacobs’ culture of caring, and WTS is a vital part of that success.
