Meet the WTS International Staff!

 

Sara Stickler, Executive Director

Sara Stickler joined WTS International in October of 2018 as the Executive Director. Sara works to set and execute WTS International’s organizational strategic priorities, working closely with the WTS International Board of Directors to continuously assess and develop the WTS brand and the association’s programs. Sara also works with the WTS Foundation and its Board of Directors to realize its mission of supporting the next generation of transportation professionals and advancing the principles of WTS.

Prior to joining WTS, Sara was the Executive Director of the Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation of the Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA). She also served as the Vice President of Research and Education at HCPA. Stickler led the foundation through an organizational rebrand to position the foundation for long-term growth. She oversaw fundraising and donor relationship building initiatives. As Vice President, Stickler oversaw over 25 active joint ventures and LLC’s through the Ignite Solutions program where she implemented a project management approach to the program; overseeing long-term and short-term industry research projects and initiatives.

Previously, Stickler taught second grade at Indian Hill Exempted Village School District in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she also coached basketball and softball. She has extensive experience working in education and with educational programs through schools, nonprofits, and outside organizations. 

Sara earned her Master of Public Policy degree from University of Maryland where she specialized in Nonprofit Policy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology from Xavier University in Ohio.

April Rai, Director

April Rai oversees the membership and chapter relations departments of WTS where she drives collaborative approaches to chapter development and member engagement.  April has extensive experience in membership development and external affairs where she specializes in promoting cross-collaboration amongst stakeholders.

Prior to joining WTS, April served as the CEO for the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS), a membership coalition that promotes safe and healthy lifestyles among all youth while encouraging youth empowerment and leadership.  In this role, April engaged with multiple transportation stakeholders on traffic and motor vehicle injury prevention.

April previously served as Manager & Affairs Analyst in the Office of the Dean at the University of Maryland, School of Nursing directing government affairs and communications.  She also managed day to day operations for the State of Maryland, Action Coalition, an initiative of the AARP Foundation, AARP and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Haley_Web 

 

Haley Diamond, Manager

Haley implements the long-term communication and programming plan of WTS, driven by data and powered by member commitment. Her process for executing the goals of WTS includes using innovative tools to broaden WTS’ impact and modernize its digital presence. During a key growth phase, she will be charged with communicating membership value, program features, and events.

Prior to joining WTS International, Haley worked at Household & Commercial Products Association and its affiliates, the Alliance for Consumer Education, and Ignite Solution, at which she played an essential role in carrying out two rebrands and a brand refresh. Each including revamped program offerings and a visual update, contributing to their overall modernization.

Haley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies specializing in International Media and minoring in Literature from American University. She is a Buffalo native who loves visiting home for chicken wings, sponge candy, and visiting her pet Shih Tzu, Spike.

keith wells

Keith Wells, Manager

Keith works closely with the Director while managing the day to day responsibilities of the membership department.  He brings more than 15 years of progressive experience in member engagement within the non-profit membership sector.  He’s a tactical problem-solver who can envision smart solutions to negotiate partnerships designed to capture opportunities for new memberships while keeping equal focus on maintaining our current membership base.

Prior to joining WTS International, Keith was the Membership and Database Coordinator at the National Society of Professional Engineers.  During his eight year tenor at NSPE he helped cultivate National & State chapter relations, member retention, and had stakeholder success while seamlessly delivering a core level of service to each member.

Keith has been a volunteer for both the SPCA of Northern Virginia, and the DC Shiba Inu Rescue group.   His hobbies include the study of Japanese culture, going out to the movies, attempting to prove that pizza is its own food group, and endlessly spoiling his dog Naomi.

shelby

Shelby Blashford, Engagement Specialist

Shelby helps manage the planning, execution and follow up of all WTS meetings, including the organization’s premier events: the Annual Conference, Signature Leadership Training, and DC Summit. She is responsible for coordinating marketing efforts for events, both live and digital.

Prior to joining WTS, Shelby worked as a Digital Marketing Coordinator at the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing where she strengthened the association’s online voice.

Shelby graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and a minor in Marketing and Social Media Studies. Shelby loves to travel, practice yoga, and visit her golden retriever, Walker, in Columbus, Ohio.

Katie_Headshot_Large

Katie Galbo, Engagement Specialist

Katie provides multi-faceted support to the Communications Department, including design, digital engagement strategy, and data analysis. Katie’s background in economics complements the metric-focused approach of WTS and will be instrumental in implementing new services.

Before joining WTS, Katie worked as a marketing intern at Payroll Network, Inc., where she promoted the organization’s work and supported clients.

Katie graduated from American University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a minor in Communication. On a weekend, Katie can be found at a Smithsonian Museum or coffeeshop.

MeKayla

 

MeKayla Washington, Office Coordinator

MeKayla provides multi-departmental support to ensure WTS operations run smoothly. MeKayla assists with chapter and member processes, event registrations, and assists with administrative work.

MeKayla studied at Prince Georges Community College, focusing in Computer Aided Drafting. Her enthusiasm for learning and detail-oriented mindset make MeKayla an asset.
