2018 WTS Conference SUCCESS

WTS18-D2-2007

WTS San Diego Chapter hosted the conference in beautiful Coronado and in collaboration with WTS international provided an agenda with variety of programs, tours, and networking opportunities. The robust agenda provided attendees with plenty of exposure to the San Diego region and included 11 diverse tours featuring the I-15 corridor, historic walking tours of Downtown San Diego, exploration of our amazing coastline down to the US-Mexico border where you can experience the world’s busiest land port of entry, and more.

The opening keynote panel session planned and moderated by Diane Woodend Jones, WTS Immediate Past Chair, allowed attendees to hear from a diverse group of transportation leaders who shared their views and encouragement on achieving equity and access for women in the work place. All the panelists provided their insights on the topic and the session was a true inspiration for all in attendance in addition to being a great way to kick off the annual conference.

The Annual Awards Gala was emceed by the Honorable Mary Peters on May 17, during the conference. It was a night to remember as the esteemed transportation leaders received their WTS recognition awards and future transportation leaders received scholarship certificates.

Another highlight was the keynote luncheon speaker Anousheh Ansari, first female private space explorer and co-founder, chairwoman, and chief executive officer of Prodea Systems. Anousheh delivered an inspiring keynote that received rave reviews from the attendees. She shared her unique background and left the audience energized to pursue their dreams.

Early predictors for the 2019 Annual Conference that will be held in Boston point to another record-breaking year. Registration for that event, which will open in January.
