2017 Recognition Awards Call for Nominations Extended to August 31

Award_group

WTS-DC’s Recognitions Awards are a great way to acknowledge those who support our local WTS-DC chapter. They also serve to heighten awareness of the WTS mission and goals by celebrating accomplished women and men at our chapter’s most prominent and widely attended event, the WTS-DC's 40th Anniversary & Holiday Party, to be held Dec. 5 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

This year, in celebration of WTS-DC’s 40th Anniversary, we are adding a special award category: WTS-DC 40th Anniversary Achievement Award. This award will honor a current or former female WTS-DC member who has made significant contributions to WTS-DC, the transportation field in Washington, D.C., and the advancement of women in transportation.

We encourage everyone to consider nominees for the full range of categories below. Please take a few moments to participate. Don't let anyone's exemplary accomplishments go unsung!

The categories are:

WTS-DC 40th Anniversary Achievement Award: Honors a current or former female WTS-DC member who has made significant contributions to WTS-DC, the transportation field in Washington, D.C., and the advancement of women in transportation.

WTS-DC Woman of the Year: Honors a woman who is an outstanding role model and has contributed to the advancement of women and minorities in transportation.

WTS-DC Member of the Year: Recognizes a WTS member who has made extraordinary contributions to the success of the organization.

WTS-DC Employer of the Year Award: Honors an organization (company, non-profit, association or government agency) for recruiting, retaining and advancing women.

WTS-DC Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award: Honors an individual(s) or organization(s) that has made significant contributions in promoting diversity and cultural awareness within their organization, the transportation industry, or in a project or activity that supports the WTS-DC mission.

WTS-DC Innovative Transportation Solutions Award: Honors an innovative transportation project led by a woman.

WTS-DC Secretary Ray LaHood Award: Honors a man who is an outstanding role model and advocate for women in transportation.

Nomination forms and instructions on how to submit can be downloaded. Please submit nominations to Katie Kraft by August 31.
