Transportation Engineer


Transportation Engineers (TE) perform engineering duties throughout District 11 including Project Development and Construction. Project Development includes the divisions of Traffic Operations, Maintenance Engineering, Design, Environmental, Engineering, Planning and Program/Project Management. Based on annual workload, delivery commitments, and the TE Rotation Process, incumbent may be assigned by the District to a variety of positions in an office or field environment.

Project Coordinator

Circulate San Diego

The primary role of the Project Coordinator is to effectively deliver and manage active transportation planning and community outreach projects. The Project Coordinator will ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and to agreed quality standards. The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of Programs and works closely with cities, public agencies, community groups, local stakeholders, and residents.

Senior Environmental Planner 
The Senior Environmental Planner will lead environmental compliance efforts for various SANDAG projects. The position will support the environmental review process for capital improvement projects planned for the region through the development of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documentation, secure federal and state regulatory permits and approvals, and oversee construction monitoring compliance, and post-construction compliance of any mitigation reporting. The Senior Planner will work directly with the agency’s engineering staff and outside environmental consultants to coordinate the environmental review of projects.

Transportation Modeler
The Transportation Modeler will develop, maintain, and improve SANDAG transportation modeling tools including the activity-based model, active transportation model, and the dynamic traffic assignment model. This position also will coordinate project teams and modeling functions with other divisions and departments, committees, and outside agencies.

Senior Business Development Analyst

The Senior Business Development Analyst is a new position within the Transportation Demand Management program. The individual selected will develop and foster strategic partnerships with a broad range of public and private sector stakeholders affiliated with the San Diego Regional Proving Ground pilot project. This position also will support technology initiatives and innovative pilot projects that seek to expand TDM beyond its traditional boundaries and advance shared mobility through public-private partnerships.
