CDM Smith 

Two steps forward, two steps back. Sometimes detours happen in our well-planned lives. If you have had a break in your science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) career and are now ready to get back in the game, let CDM Smith help you restart your career by participating in our career re-entry program. Partnering with the Society of Women Engineers and iRelaunch, we are offering a 12-week program for those who left their STEM career for 2 years and are now wanting to return. This is a paid, full time temporary opportunity to help you train and rejoin peers in your field.
 

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently on career break of 2 years or more and enthusiasm to return to your field
  • Bachelors degree in STEM related field required of open role
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in your field
  • Any additional requirements posted of open role
  • Commitment to full-time 40 hours for duration of 12-week internship (paid holidays when applicable)

Essential Function
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Drives a commercial vehicle to pick up donations from multiple donor locations.
  • Unloads and unloads trucks, processes product and operates a baler and forklift. 
  
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle with air brakes.
  • Basic user of MS Office.
  • Be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience; possesses a valid California driver's license; and has no Class 1 or more than two Class 2 violations within the past 36 months.
  • Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be granted where appropriate. 
 
Work Environment 
  • Work involves frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noise, or chemicals, etc. 
  
Physical Demand
  • Bending and Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist.
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders or stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Heavy Carrying/Lifting: Physically transporting, raising items from a lower to a higher position, or moving objects horizontally weighing 45 pounds unassisted and over 45 pounds with assistance and/or using equipment from one location to another.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to rest on one or both knees.

Circulate San Diego's Safe Routes to School & Outreach Coordinator

Circulate San Diego 

The primary role of the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) and Outreach Coordinator is to support the Project Managers and the Director of Planning in conducting community outreach effectively, and to ensure that they are delivered on time, and to agreed quality standards; the SRTS and Outreach Coordinator works closely with schools, community groups, and organizations in the field and with public officials in local government.
 
General Duties
  • As a staff member of Circulate San Diego the SRTS and Outreach Coordinator is expected to contribute to its overall mission, and:
  • Participate in the team working approach of Circulate San Diego;
  • Assume responsibility for following all policies and procedures;
  • Attend staff, Board, committee and other internal meetings, as required;
  • Take responsibility for personal training and development;
  • Provide a high level of client service at all times; and
  • Project and maintain a positive image on behalf of Circulate San Diego
 
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in Safe Routes to School projects, and outreach planning;
  • Passion for education and community engagement;
  • Strong oral and written communications skills; and
  • Spanish fluency

Rail Internship

HDR Inc.

HDR is seeking a Rail Intern based in our downtown San Diego office to work with our Southern California Rail and Transit team. Primary responsibilities will be assisting project engineers and managers with railroad track design projects. Specific tasks may include developing design plans, addressing redline comments, developing quantities and cost estimates, assisting with specifications, and using specialized software (Microstation, InRoads, and Excel spreadsheets). All work will be performed under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
