Advancing Women in Transportation


WTS (Women’s Transportation Seminar) fosters the development of women in the transportation field by encouraging bright new professionals to undertake careers in the area of transportation. One way it does this is by awarding scholarships to women pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies in transportation or a related field.

The following scholarships were awarded in December 2018:

Minimum applicant criteria for all scholarships:

  • Open to all women
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher, if applicable
  • Currently attending a junior college, trade school, apprenticeship program, college or university in Oregon or Southwest Washington and enrolled in a degree or trade school program in a transportation-related field such as transportation engineering, planning, finance, communications, operations, construction or logistics.
  • Transportation YOU Scholarship: Current High School Senior in Oregon or Southwest Washington
  • Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
  • Not previously awarded a WTS scholarship at the same level:
         Transportation YOU winners can later apply at Undergraduate and Graduate Levels;
         Undergraduate winners may later apply at Graduate Level;
         Graduate winners are not eligible to apply again.

The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation career goals; leadership, especially related to transportation; academic record; transportation-related activities or job skills; personal statement and letters of recommendation. Students of color and those representing diverse transportation interests are encouraged to apply.  Applicants are allowed to apply for more than one scholarship.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Application materials are not returned to applicants.
