Professional Development

WTS International’s mission to transform the transportation industry through the advancement of women is, in part, carried out through the Portland Chapter’s commitment to professional development.  Each year the WTS Professional Development Committee sponsors evening lectures, workshops, and events encouraging members to continue learning about their field and expand their interests.

Evening lectures and workshops are held at least four times a year, with topics of interest to current transportation professionals. Events are typically on a technical topic, transportation history and theory, or communications.  These events include the opportunity to earn AICP and PE continuing education credits.

WTS Portland is involved in planning and staffing the annual Oregon Transportation Summit in coordination with Oregon Transportation Research and Education (TREC), Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association (OAPA), and Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).  This September event helps bring together educators, national and community leaders, and state-wide professionals for a day of learning, sharing ideas, identifying areas where research is needed, and networking.

Please contact our Professional Development co-chairs Alexis Gabriel at Alexis.Gabriel@portlandoregon.gov and Cait McCusker at cmccusker@pdx.edu for more details.
