Visual Explanations 2012 - Describing your Transportation Project in Space and Time

08:30 PM - 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time

The WTS Professional Development Committee of Portland, OR presents:

Joshua Cohen, founder of Fat Pencil Studio, will be delivering a talk on developing visually appealing graphics and presentations for transportation projects. The presentation will focus on two main topics:

----------------------------------------------------------------

1. Maps (ArcGIS not required)

Online services such as Google Maps, Bing Maps, Open Street Maps, and now Apple Maps have made it possible to generate beautiful & accurate maps without the need for a GIS expert. We'll review some resources for generating base maps, and explore options for adding content & annotations.

2. Time-lapse (on screen & on site)

We'll examine the process required to make a time lapse movie using a case study of a building under construction. We'll also discuss other possible applications in construction and transportation, and review some useful tools from weatherproof cameras to apps for your iPhone.

Light refreshments will be served at the presentation. PE and AICP credit are pending.
