Members-Only Sellwood Bridge Construction Tour

03:00 PM - 05:00 PM Pacific Standard Time

Take a walking tour of the construction zone for the Sellwood Bridge project. Participants will see construction of the east bridge approach, new work bridges on each side of the river, foundations for river piers, retaining walls along Highway 43, and a new entrance road to River View Cemetery. Tour leaders will be Multnomah County bridge engineer Chuck Maggio and former WTS Portland president KC Cooper, who is on the project's public involvement team.

The tour will start and end at the project office trailer at SE 6th and Tacoma (south side of Tacoma St.).  The tour can accommodate up to 15 WTS members.  The project can provide hardhats, vests and safety glasses for tour members.  Participants need to wear long pants and shoes that cover the foot completely.  The construction zone is dusty, muddy and uneven in areas, so we recommend walking boots.  The tour includes a walk of 1 - 2 miles to see work on both sides of the river.
