Eastbank Esplanade Walking Tour

11:30 AM - 01:00 PM Pacific Standard Time

During his tenure at the Portland Parks Bureau, landscape architect George Hudson (now at Alta Planning + Design) successfully shepherded the Eastbank Esplanade project into existence. This world-class bicycling and walking project managed to construct a floating pathway on the Willamette and, after a decade of negotiations, secured permission from the Union Pacific Railway to build a cantilevered pathway on the lower deck of the Steel Bridge.

George will share his tales from the trenches, and his insight into the design and construction process. This free walk will take place rain or shine - bring an umbrella if it's looking wet.

Meet at Peace Memorial Park, which is the giant landscaped peace sign at the east end of the Steel Bridge. It is at the intersection of NE Oregon and NE Lloyd, near the bike-only signal that heads towards the Rose Quarter TC. Please contact us if you have any questions about where to meet.
