NCDOT & WTS - NC Triangle Chapter
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day!
NCDOT and WTS NC Triangle are collaborating on a student outreach program for “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” Day April 18. High School girls interested in engineering will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on transportation-related engineering activities and also participate in a question-and-answer session with female engineers from various disciplines. Our engineers will also share the daily duties and skills necessary for their jobs while encouraging young women to maintain their math and science skills, which are necessary to enter programs in college.
With women making up only 12 percent of engineers in the United States, “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” strives to promote engineering as a desirable career option to young adults.
WTS needs your help in volunteering to assist with an activity, lunch and mentoring.
Look here for other ideas of how you can mentor young girls.
