Congratulations to our 2018 Local Scholarship Winners


The NC Triangle Chapter recently announced the recipients of its annual scholarship program. The chapter will present the awards to two women pursuing careers in transportation-related fields at its annual scholarship luncheon in February. These recipients will also be submitted to the WTS International organization for consideration of a national scholarship.

Elizabeth Lattimore – Sharon Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship


Ms. Lattimore is a senior at North Carolina State University. She plans to continue her education next year and pursue a master’s of civil engineering with a concentration in transportation systems. At NCSU, she has served on the executive board for Alpha Omega Epsilon and she has been involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers and Chi Epsilon. With Alpha Omega Epsilon, she has volunteered her time helping with FIRST Robotics and Dress for Success. After the completion of her Master’s degree, she plans to pursue a career the civil engineering industry, one day managing high-impact projects in urban areas.


Elizabeth Byrom – Overly Graduate Scholarship


Ms. Byrom is a second-year PhD candidate at North Carolina State University. She is conducting research, under the guidance of Dr. George List, most recently on a project to analyze the operational benefits of left turn signals by time-of-day operations.   She currently works as a research assistant at the Institute of Transportation Research and Education. She also volunteers her time as a member of the Advisory Committee for Delta Gamma and at the Step-Up Ministry. After her graduation, Ms. Williams plans to pursue a career as an infrastructure consultant and become a leader in the field of transportation.
