Future Females in Transportation Day Scheduled for October 10, 2012

The  WTS  Metropolitan St. Louis Chapter is excited to offer an opportunity
for  female  high  school students to participate in our “Future Females in
Transportation  Day"  on  October  10, 2012. Participant candidates must be
junior  or  senior female students with an expressed interest in pursuing a
college  education  in a transportation related field, such as engineering,
architecture,  communications,  math  or  science.   A  teacher  or  school
counselor  must  nominate the student to attend.  Letters have been sent to
area high school guidance counselors to solicit attendees.

This  year, the program will be held at Jacob’s Engineering office, located
in  downtown  St.  Louis.   The  day  will  conist  of  a  tour  of the New
Mississippi   River   Bridge   (MRB)  Project,  lunch  with  women  in  the
transportation industry and a project to develop a cost-constrained transit
plan for the region.  The event will engage the participants in discussions
with  women  who  work  in  various disciplines of transportation including
civil   engineering,  community  relations,  project  management,  economic
development and marketing. The students and professionals will then have an
opportunity  to  interact  and  discuss career options in the transporation
industry.

Students interested in attending should work with their teacher or guidance
counselor     to    contact    Angela    Fuerst    at    314-453-5056    or
angela.fuerst@modot.mo.gov.
