How to increase your confidence in delivering talks and presentations

Toastmasters_smallThere’s no point beating about the bush: despite all the talk on equality, the reality is that as a woman in a male dominated sector, you need to demonstrate you’re better than your male counterparts if you want to progress. The area of presentations – from an informal update to a project team through to a keynote speech at a conference – is a key area to master.

This session will focus on the things women often get wrong – and how to ensure you get them right. In addition, you will learn how to connect with your audience by understanding the crucial essence of communication.

Our speaker Hilary Briggs has been a member of the communication and leadership development organisation, Toastmasters, for over 14 years. During her 30 years of industrial experience she has held senior positions in production management, logistics and product marketing and has faced many presentation challenges including  inspiring groups of employees on the shop floor, giving performance updates to Board members and a “state of the company” address to over 1700 employees in German! Yet at school, she did everything possible to avoid speaking in public…
