Welcome to the Central Virginia Chapter of WTS!

A transportation hub since its founding in 1607, the Richmond region launched the first U.S. canal system. Today, Virginia has the third-largest state-maintained highway system in the country and a vibrant network of airports, seaports, rail and public transportation.
WTS Central Virginia looks forward to bringing you the state's top transportation leaders to discuss the policies and projects that will shape our region in the coming decades. The Richmond region is located at the head of the navigable waters of the James River, and is home to more than 400 years of history. Settled in 1607 by Captains Christopher Newport and John Smith, this is the home of the second successful English settlement, the site of Patrick Henry's famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech, and the former capital of the Confederacy. The first electric streetcar system in the U.S. was built in downtown Richmond, and exciting new transportation options are being considered in central Virginia today, including regional high speed rail and local rapid transit.
