Transportation YOU - Girls in Transportation

Transportation You:  Girls in Transportation

The Central Virginia Chapter partnered up with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA-Richmond Field Office), Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) to hold a “Girls in Transportation” workshop on April 10, 2014 at the Science Museum of Virginia.  The workshop was intended to incorporate interactive working sessions to introduce young women to specialized areas of transportation careers with a series of breakout sessions led by some of Central Virginia’s most successful leaders within the Transportation Industry.

This one-day event sponsored by Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) Central Virginia Chapter was dedicated to local area students in Grades 6-8.

This hands-on, interactive mentoring program offers young woment an introduction to a wide variety of careers in transportation.

WTS chapters are using this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young women by offering activities that explain opportunities in all modes of transportation and encourage courses in science, technology, engineering and math - the "stepping stones" to exciting careers in the transportation industry.
