and an Advocate Level Sponsor of WTS International!

STV Incorporated is the largest operating subsidiary of STV Group, Inc., a private, employee-owned corporation offering engineering, architectural, planning, environmental and construction management services to a diverse range of public and private sector clients. STV was originally comprised of three major firms: Seelye Stevenson Value & Knecht, Sanders & Thomas, and Lyon Associates. SSV&K, the oldest of the three, was founded in 1912 in New York City by Elwyn Seelye, a structural engineer.

In 2012 STV celebrated the 100thanniversary since its oldest predecessor firm opened its doors.  From 43 locations in the United States and Canada, STV’s more than 2,000 professional, technical and support personnel offer services to a broad and ever-expanding client base. We provide engineering, architecture, planning, environmental and construction management services for transportation, infrastructure, buildings and facilities, and energy projects. In August 2001, STV Group’s employee and public shareholders overwhelmingly approved a proposed transaction to take the company private, and STV became 100% employee-owned.

The 20 participants were divided into four teams to compete for the highest average step total for 10 weeks. In addition to the step challenge, we held a 50/50 raffle, a putting challenge, chili cook-off, trivia contest, and penny wars and raised $800.00 for the charity.

Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD) has been a Copper Level Corporate Sponsor

of WTS Central PA since 2014!

Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD) has been a Copper Level corporate sponsor of the WTS Central PA Chapter since 2014. TPD is a full-service transportation engineering firm that is headquartered in Pottstown, PA with a total of 10 offices in the eastern United States.  TPD experienced tremendous growth in 2017, including the opening of two new offices in Elkton, MD and Asheville, NC. Additionally, TPD was recognized as a Top Design Firmin the Mid-Atlantic Region by Engineering News Record, the #4 Best Place to Work for in PA(small/medium category), a Hot Firmby the Zweig Group - a list that represents the fastest growing engineering firms in the country, and as a member of the “Soaring 76” firms list by the Philadelphia Business Journal – a list that represents the fastest growing firms of any type in the Greater Philadelphia region. The firm is also regularly recognized on the Central Penn Business Journal’s Largest Engineering Firmslist.

2018 marks TPD’s 29thyear in business.  The firm was founded in 1989 in an Oaks, PA farmhouse with six employees. Today, TPD prides itself on being a client-focused, team-oriented firm which operates as “One Company with Multiple Locations”. TPD’s strategically-located network of offices, progressive management structure, continuous investment in technology, and priority on individual accountability enable the firm to provide quality service, responsiveness, and local knowledge for the benefit of clients, teaming partners, and ultimately, the traveling public.

TPD is currently focusing on the PennDOT Connects initiative, which reaches into the community and transportation planning processes to initiate early dialogue and partnered decision-making.  With this early engagement between project planners, stakeholders, and the local community, the goal is to identify transportation projects which will help a community achieve its vision. This type of collaboration will create sustainable transportation solutions to last for generations to come.

To support the firm’s rapid expansion, TPD is hiring in multiple disciplines and locations. Please visit www.trafficpd.com/employment for more information on joining TPD.

Recent Central PA Project Work:

PennDOT District 8-0 Bridge Construction Inspection

tpd1

TPD recently provided construction inspection (CI) services for PennDOT Engineering District 8-0on a multi-part CI agreement (E03661).  A selection of TPD’s services under this agreement included the CI for two bridge replacements and associated roadway approach work: SR 0022 over Elizabeth Run in Dauphin County, and SR 1011 over Deep Run in Lebanon County.

TPD provides services for Sheetz Convenience Markets

tpd2

In recent years, TPD has forged a dynamic relationship with Sheetz Convenience Markets.  The firm’s growth is paralleling that of Sheetz, as TPD’s Transportation Planning Services Department completed services for 12 new and rehabilitated Sheetz locations in 2017, covering eight (8) counties in Pennsylvania, including sites in Northumberland, Cumberland, Dauphin, Adams, Lancaster, York, Berks, and Northampton counties.

In addition to "work":

In honor of National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, TPD annually plans an interactive day of learning and fun for staff members’ children. The 2017 program taught the kids about the importance of environmental services during the civil engineering process (especially the preservation of bog turtles) and emerging technology (with a concentration on drones).

To TPD, community service means giving, which may entail time, clothing, shoes, meals, toys, or other resources. TPD employees are not reimbursed or paid for any of their time spent doing these activities, but the firm is never short on volunteers. This simple fact demonstrates that the people they have chosen to be a part of their family inherently reflect the core values of the firm and are willing to do what it takes to help, whether that be fellow employees, industry peers, clients, or community members. For example, in 2017, in lieu of sending holiday cards that eventually get recycled, TPD employees participated in a “12 Days of Giving” program for the second year in a row to spread smiles to people (and animals) that needed a little extra attention. As part of this program, TPD employees volunteered at the Chester County Pet Food Pantry.

TPD recognizes the direct link between workforce investment and low turnover. Events are planned regularly to strengthen bonds between staff members as well as treat TPD employees to a little fun! The firm’s two “Quality of Life” weekend trips in 2017 featured a day at the Renaissance Fairein Manheim, PA during the Oktoberfest celebration which included a picnic for TPD employees and families, and also a ski trip at Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton, PA.
