Susquehanna Civil Inc. - Bridge/Design Engineer

Susquehanna Civil is seeking a technically-focused individual with 5+ years of experience on PennDOT and PA Turnpike bridge design and inspection projects. Desired skills include structural design, use of PennDOT and structural design/analysis software, proficiency with MS Office, and experienced in NBIS inspection. BS in Civil/Structural Engineering, EIT, and 5 – 10 years of experience on PennDOT and PA Turnpike bridge projects are required. CBSI certification is highly desirable. PA PE Registration is a plus.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering design and inspection work for yourself as well as others.  Desired skills also include the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship for less experienced engineers.

Susquehanna Civil Inc. - Geotechnical Technician

Susquehanna Civil is seeking a Technician to join our growing Geotechnical Team. The candidate will focus primarily on field work including, but not limited to: subsurface investigation (soil and rock identification), test pit logging, infiltration testing, DCP testing, site reconnaissance, and sub-contractor supervision. Other responsibilities will include assisting with geotechnical reports, which may include data entry, basic CADD work, and minor design work. Candidate must be willing to be cross-trained in multiple engineering disciplines. Candidates should have strong organizational, communication, and people skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment. Being detail oriented and having an emphasis on quality of work are a must. Eligible candidates should possess a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related field OR have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in geotechnical design on PennDOT and PA Turnpike projects. The candidate should be a PennDOT Certified Drilling Inspector or have the ability to become certified within 6 months of hire.

PennDOT- 2019 Summer Internships in Cultural Resource Management

PennDOT’s Cultural Resource Management Program anticipates offering internships in cultural resource management and historic preservation at the Central Office in Harrisburg Pa. and in Indiana, Pa. at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Interns will be directly involved in important research on the management, study and stewardship of archaeological sites and historic resources affected by transportation projects. They’ll also be exposed to the full range of job skills and employment opportunities in Cultural Resource Management through formal seminars and rotations in GIS, curation, archaeological field work, project assessment, consulting, environmental review, and National Register evaluation.
Our internships, part of the Department’s Engineering, Scientific and Technical Internship Program (ESTI), pay $13.23/hour, and undergraduate or graduate credit may be available through your university department. Preference will be given to applicants with previous exposure to GIS, database management, and archaeological, historical, or historic preservation course work and field experience in the Middle Atlantic region. Excellent communication skills are important. While ESTI applications are open until the end of March, we ask our applicants to submit their applications by the end of January, 2019. Interviews typically are scheduled in February and March.
