WTS-Boston Favorite Things Contest Winner

Congratulations to Alyson Fletcher, Associate at Nelson\Nygaard who won the WTS Boston Favorite Things about Boston contest, and thank you to the many WTS members who responded. This contest, to recall, is associated with WTS Boston hosting the 2019 WTS International Conference next May, where hundreds of transportation professionals will visit Boston from around the country and internationally. The winner of the contest was randomly selected from all the responses received. Input from our local members lends insight to our out-of-town colleagues, helping them schedule their time in Boston outside conference sessions. Who knows, it could also help our Conference Tour committee!

A selection of responses is below (there were definitely some themes):

  • Rose Kennedy Greenway. I recommend a walk up from South Station to the North End, stopping at the public art and the beer garden (for adults) and the splash park and the carousel (for kiddos), ending with a trip down Hanover Street to Modern Pastry
  • Ferrying to the Harbor Islands
  • The walkability- you can cross the whole city in a few hours if you put your mind to it
  • Scale allows one to walk just about anywhere within the city limits, and I can simultaneously enjoy beautiful urban architecture and greenery
  • The Rose Kennedy Greenway is my favorite part of Boston. It's a great place to grab lunch with all the food trucks. And when the weather is nice, it's also great to relax, eat your lunch, and people watch
  • I love that it is a big modern city but houses pockets where you get a glimpse into our history
  • Getting around the harbor by calling for the Water taxi.  That is my favorite thing to do with guests during the warmer months
  • Boston Harbor Islands National Park

Alyson’s contribution was to suggest taking a ferry to the Harbor Islands. (This is a great idea for us locals too). It is too late for the gift card, but not too late to contribute your ideas on favorite things about Boston. Keep the ideas coming, and we can share with conference attendees when they arrive in Boston next May. Emails are welcome to wtsbostonevents@gmail.com.

Congratulations again, Alyson!
