WTS-Boston congratulates Laurie Carlson on being selected the 2018 Member of the Year!

Laurie Carlson embodies dedication to public service both professionally and personally.  Laurie Carlson has been an active member of WTS-Boston since 2014.  She has served as Co-Chair on both the WTS-Boston Programs Committee and is currently serving her second year on the WTS-Boston Membership Committee.    Laurie regularly attends WTS-Boston events, trainings, and round table discussions.

Laurie believes strongly in public service.   She has been working in the public sector for nearly 30 years joining the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority in 1988.  Laurie serves as a Supervisor of the Truck Permit Department where she deals directly with the public providing customer service and oversight to truck permitting applications.   Despite the challenges of being on the front lines, Laurie always has a positive attitude.

Laurie also serves on the MassBay Foundation Board at MassBay Community College.   The Board consists of volunteers who seek to help students realize their dreams.   The MassBay Foundation is integral in supporting student scholarships and community services. “Laurie believes in the power of mentoring others, helping others achieve their educational dreams as a member of the Foundation Board Laurie is volunteering on the Strategy and Resource Committee” (MassBay Community College website).

Laurie is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Framingham State University; where she has also earned her Bachelor Degree, with a major in English and a minor in Law and Politics.
