WTS TED Talk Event: “The Career Advice You Probably Didn’t Get”

On July 10th, 20 attendees gathered at HDR’s office in Boston for a TED Talk viewing and discussion facilitated by Loretta Girard Doughty, P.E., Transportation Program Manager for the New England Region at HDR. The WTS-Boston Mentoring Committee organized the event and selected the TED Talk “The Career Advice You Probably Didn’t Get” by Susan Colantuono, CEO and founder of Leading Women.

2019 WTS-Boston Mentoring Program

WTS-Boston is starting a new mentoring program in January 2019. This program will match seasoned leaders in the transportation industry with emerging professionals in mentor-mentee pairs for a six-month program. We strongly encourage participation from both mentors and mentees in the inaugural year.​

2019 WTS-Boston Emerging Professional Program

The WTS-Boston Program for Emerging Professional Women provides up to two annual awards to the WTS-Boston community. Eligible applicants must work in a transportation-related career and not be eligible to receive reimbursement from their employer for WTS membership expenses. Applicants should have no more than 5 years of full-time post-graduate professional experience in the transportation field.

2018 WTS-Boston Summer Tour

On July 24, 2018, WTS-Boston members received a private tour of the New Balance Campus at Boston Landing. The exclusive tour of the campus was guided by Ellen DeNooyer from MBTA, as well as Erin Harvey and Keith Craig from the New Balance Development team.

WTS-Boston Favorite Things Contest Winner

Congratulations to Alyson Fletcher, Associate at Nelson\Nygaard who won the WTS Boston Favorite Things about Boston contest, and thank you to the many WTS members who responded. This contest, to recall, is associated with WTS Boston hosting the 2019 WTS International Conference next May, where hundreds of transportation professionals will visit Boston from around the country and internationally. The winner of the contest was randomly selected from all the responses received.

The WTS-Boston Membership Committee hosted 60 transportation professionals at this year's June Mixer. Held for the second year in a row on the patio at Tia’s Waterfront in Boston, we enjoyed refreshments, beautiful weather and great company. MBTA’s Focus 40 Investment Plan

On May 24th, WTS-Boston hosted Jen Slesinger, Senior Planner with the MassDOT Office of Transportation Planning, at the Chapter’s monthly luncheon. Ms. Slesinger serves as the Project Manager for Focus 40, the 25-year Investment Plan for the MBTA. The goal of the plan is to position the MBTA to meet the needs of the Greater Boston Region in 2040.
