Project Coordinator - Signals & Communication Maintenance

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the MBTA Signals and Communication Maintenance directors, in the administrative and financial activities related to scheduling, design, planning, material procurement and budgeting for daily department maintenance and installation project duties.

Title VI Specialist

The Title VI Specialist assists in the development and implementation of the Title VI Program to ensure MBTA compliance with the provisions of the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and another nondiscrimination authorities, including Executive Orders for Environmental Justice (EJ) and Limited English Proficiency (LEP) inclusive public participation, assessing departmental risk for non-compliance, providing technical assistance, managing related consultant activities and taking a lead role in effort to compile MBTA's Triennial submission to the Federal Transit Administration, including the drafting of essential program components.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, monitors and reports on the MBTA's Title VI Program to meet Federal and related state law, regulation and administrative standards governing Title VI compliance.
  • Establishes collaborative work relationships across senior MBTA management to support all aspects of Title VI program activities
  • As assigned, works with federal, state and/or local government entities on Title VI and nondiscrimination compliance matters in areas including, among others, public participation, language assistance, complaint resolution and strategic project planning.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station Program Ambassador

Job Summary:

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) and National Grid seek an Electric Vehicle Charging Station Program Ambassador, who will support select cities and towns in parts of Eastern and Central Massachusetts to participate in National Grid's EV Charging Station Program ("Make Ready" Program). This position requires an energetic individual with strong project management and written and oral communication skills. The successful candidate will assist in delivering electric vehicle charging station solutions to Massachusetts cities and towns in National Grid's electric service territory and expanding municipalities' awareness of the National Grid Make-Ready Program.

This position will be providing services to and will require travel throughout the cities and towns prioritized in Eastern and Central Massachusetts. This includes municipalities located within the MAPC, Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC), North Middlesex Area Council of Governments (NMCOG), and Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) regions.

In delivering these solutions, the individual will work directly with staff from these municipalities, charging station installation vendors and equipment vendors, and National Grid EV Program staff. The individual will also assist with completing the "Make Ready" Program application form, including gathering the required supporting documentation and leveraging other available funding such as the Massachusetts Electric Vehicle Incentive Program ("MassEVIP"). This position will be managed by and report directly to staff within MAPC's Clean Energy Department and have a collaborative relationship with Make Ready Program staff at National Grid.

National Grid is delivering a program to non-residential customers to increase the availability of EV charging stations in cities and towns throughout its Massachusetts electric service territory in support of the Commonwealth's clean air goals. Make Ready Program information is available at www.ngrid.com/ma-evcharging. For approved projects, the Make Ready Program funds:

  • 100% of the electrical infrastructure costs to power the EV charging stations, and
  • A portion, ranging from 50% to 100%, of the charging station equipment costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Raise cities and towns' awareness of the Make Ready Program.
  • Provide direct assistance to cities and towns to support making their communities EV-ready by installing EV charging stations in their communities.
  • Support cities and towns efforts to raise awareness of the Make Ready Program with businesses such as workplaces located in their communities.
  • Carry out tasks to build awareness and educate municipalities on National Grid's electric vehicle charging station program, funding, logistics, equipment options, and relevant policies.

  • Review and process purchase requisitions for coding accuracy and available funding. Conduct detailed budget analysis and prepare forecasts for the Director of Vehicle Engineering, Senior Technical Project Managers, and Technical Project Managers.
  • Work closely with the Director and Project Managers within the department to develop methods of controlling project costs.
  • Prepare various departmental reports, budget spreadsheets, charts, tables and graphs for presentations.
  • Assist with the development of the annual departmental operating budget and five (5) year Capital Investment Program.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Authority's fiscal units, including Accounting, Procurement and Logistics, Capital Delivery and the Budget departments.
  • Effectively communicate progress, issues and resolution, verbally and in writing to management regarding budget issues and policies.
    • Provide management with analytical information and reports as required. Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, WORD and/or PeopleSoft applications and the ability to pass the MBTA's Microsoft Office Professional test (including Excel).

Job Summary:

The Deputy Chief Financial Officer Operations partners with senior management to guide, implement, and manage the necessary cost control, process redesign and financial management strategies to support the economic growth and financial well- being of the Commonwealth in order to provide high quality public transit service. Specifically, the Deputy CFO of Operations will work alongside the Deputy GM to identify financial trends, KPIs and other financial models to stay ahead of trending events.

  • Partner with Senior management to drive and support finance related initiatives focused on the development and implementation of cost savings, productivity improvement, organizational compliance and oversight initiatives across the organization to reduce its reliance on additional state assistance and eliminate the structural deficit over time

The Assistant General Counsel (Litigation) will provide advice, counsel, and representation to the MBTA and MassDOT on behalf of the MassDOT/MBTA General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel (Litigation) acts under the supervision of the Senior Counsel for Tort Litigation and the Managing Counsel for Litigation.

Responsibilities:

  • Litigates tort matters on behalf of the MBTA in the state and federal courts.
  • Reviews and responds to complaints; including drafting of answers, motions to dismiss or other responsive pleadings.
  • Conducts and responds to discovery in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Researches, drafts and files dispositive motions.
  • Resolves matters through negotiation, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
