"Regulatory Review of Roadway and Bridge Projects:
Session 1- Environmental Policy and Public Review (NEPA and MEPA)”
Guest Speaker
Michael Trepanier, MassDOT Senior Environmental Planner
Back by popular demand, WTS-Boston welcomes Michael Trepanier of MassDOT’s Environmental Section for an informative presentation on Environmental Policy and Public Review, including differences and similarities between the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) review processes as applicable to transportation infrastructure projects. This workshop is the first of a planned series providing more in-depth discussion on focused topics in the realm of environmental permitting relative to transportation facilities. The series was conceived as a follow-up to a brown bag luncheon held in 2012 that provided a broad overview of environmental permitting for roadway and bridge projects. This series will consist of four sessions: Environmental Policy and Public Review (MEPA/NEPA); Water Quality and Stormwater Improvements; Permitting and Rare Species; and Historical Resources and Preservation Laws. Each session is designed to provide a basic overview of the topic at hand. They are geared toward civil/structural engineers who have little or no background in environmental permitting.
Dates for future sessions have not yet been determined, but are intended to be held roughly six to eight weeks apart. Please check the WTS website regularly for dates of future sessions.
