Apply Now to Serve as WTS-Boston’s 2017 Treasurer

This position is expected to average about 8-10 hours per month, with some extra time required for the transition (December – February) as schedules allow.  Applicants must be a member of WTS-Boston but do not need prior experience as a WTS-Boston leader.

Activities as Treasurer include:

  • Working with the Board and across all committees to oversee how we operate financially, including the implementation of our short and long-term investment policies;
  • Coordinating with the other members of the WTS-Boston Executive Board and our accountant to streamline previous accounting practices;
  • Making deposits and issuing checks;
  • Preparing and presenting the monthly treasurer’s report for the monthly Board meetings; and
  • Working with our accountant on our tax filing.

We ask that those who meet the below criteria apply:

  • Has experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Finance and Accounting
    • Familiarity with QuickBooks
    • Strong project management experience with budget oversight
    • Other skills or experience that can be applied while managing the budget of this organization
  • Has the time available to serve in this capacity. This position is expected to average about 8-10 hours per month, with some extra time required for the transition (December – February) as schedules allow.  The Treasurer is responsible for creating the monthly Treasurer’s Report and presenting them at the monthly Board meetings (the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 8-9:30am at the State Transportation Building).
  • Has the ability to download QuickBooks to your computer (at work or at home). WTS-Boston will reimburse you for the cost to download the software.

  • Your current employer and position,
  • A description of your applicable experience or skills (based on the criteria above)
  • # of years as a Chapter member,
  • # of years as a Chapter leader (if applicable), and  
  • A brief description of why you would like to serve as Acting Treasurer.

Letters of interest should not exceed two pages. Please respond by Monday, November 7thThe Board will review the interest and make a selection in November.
