2016 Emerging Professionals

Authors:   WTS Mentoring Committee:   Susan Nichols-VHB, Allison Sweeney-MBTA and Paula Simmons-MassDOT

As part of WTS-Boston’s efforts to support new members as a means of sustaining the long-term viability and future success of our Chapter, the annual Program for Emerging Professional Women aims to assist in the development of our future leaders. The program provides a year of free membership and attendance for designated luncheons and events to two selected participants. WTS-Boston selected Gönül Duren and Leslie Stahl as our 2016 Emerging Professionals.

Duren_PhotoGönül Düren is a Project Designer with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).  Gönül joined MassDOT in 2014 after having graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  Gönül received her Engineering-in-Training license which will enable her to take the professional licensure exam after four years of work experience.   Her interests include volunteering with Boston high school students interested in pursuing engineering in college.  Gönül is also currently a member of the Communications Committee where she assists with WTS-Boston’s social media accounts.
