In its efforts to promote the opportunity for students to obtain scholarships and to shape the workforce of the future, WTS Foundation leads Project Connect programs that
- Provide opportunities for those entering careers in transportation to better understand the wide diversity of opportunities the industry has to offer;
- Give prospective employers the opportunity to meet and converse with potential employees;
- Solidify relationships between local WTS chapters and colleges and universities;
- Offer resources to local college and university instructors regarding current transportation trends in employment and changes in the industry landscape.
Project Connect programs can be developed with various formats. Individual employers may speak to groups of students on the careers and jobs available at their agency/company. Specific modal or displine-focused panels might discuss their attributes. Public agencies may be invited to advocate the benefits of public administration and highlight the public projects under their jurisdiction. Scholars may be asked to present their bodies of work/thesis topics to employer representatives. Programs are limited by only our imagination.
Project Connect programs are organized by local WTS chapters with the support and guidance of WTS Foundation Board and staff.
