POSITION OBJECTIVE

At the executive level, designs, develops and implements an integrated talent management process, including, but not limited to assessment, competency development, training and development initiatives, performance management,  organizational leadership review and succession planning. Provides  leadership and consultation to Metro-North in the areas of succession planning, executive coaching and other key talent management areas to promote organizational effectiveness.  Promotes Metro-North Railroad's Vision 2013 and Strategic Business Plan goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands the vision, short and long term goals (e.g., Vision 2013) of MNR and collaborates with all appropriate levels and business units to develop and retain talent to achieve company goals.

  • Creates and executes talent management process, including assessment, competency development, training and development initiatives, performance management, organizational leadership review and succession planning.

  • Develops and implements workforce planning initiatives that allow Metro-North to anticipate and address changes to workforce availability and requirements.

  • Facilitates change management methodologies, assesses training and development needs, and ensures the implementation of improved processes.

  • Creates and monitors key success indicators against business outcomes.

  • Provides leadership and coaching to executives and managers to implement Metro-North strategy:

    • Plays a key role in strategy development and implementation.

    • Advises senior leadership on initiatives and activities that promote maximum staff effectiveness.

    • Leads Metro-North's organizational design and development initiatives (job re-design, organization re-structuring, etc.).

    • Ensures a climate of continuous learning in support of Metro-North's strategies.

  • Provides leadership on all Metro-North knowledge management, training, and development initiatives:

    • Hires, motivates, and manages a team of seasoned performance consultants who focus on performance and results.

    • Ensures that learning strategies are driven by industry best practices, innovative, timely, cost-effective and focused on the development of Metro-North leaders and employees.

    • Oversees the implementation of measurements for training and development activities to ensure overall effectiveness.

    • Ensures internal client satisfaction for training and development initiatives.

  • Provides consultation to HR and Business Leaders to improve talent management processes:

    • Ensures alignment of HR practices and processes and the talent management process.

    • Recommends changes to Human Resources Business Partners, the BSC and other Centers of Excellence practices to reflect organizational needs as appropriate.

    • Keeps current with industry-leading talent management trends through benchmarking, external partnerships and industry affiliations.

    • As requested, represents the Agency at meetings and inter-agency forums.

    • As needed, handles other responsibilities as assigned.

POSITION OBJECTIVE
The primary purpose of this position is to provide hardware and software inventory control and asset management support services to the IT technical services staff and the entire IT customer community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain inventory of computer hardware and software, keeping accurate database records, along with an orderly stock room.
  • Receipt for inventory received (within one day of receipt), providing required documentation to the appropriate designated IT personnel.
  • Dispense hardware and software to IT staff, providing required paperwork/documentation, within time frames specified.
  • Dispense computer supplies to MN customer community within time frame specified maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide backup support other positions involved in the asset management function as necessary to ensure that all functions are covered at all times.
  • Assist with the Asset Disposition process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of a technical and organizational environment, preferably in a Metro-North Railroad environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Capable of moving and lifting equipment 50 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers.
  • Basic knowledge of IT inventory material.
  • Strong PC skills - MS Office Suite and/or comparable applications with the ability to learn new software with minimal formal training.

Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science or related field.  Demonstrated equivalent experience, education and/or technical credentials may be considered in lieu of degree.
